Soil sampling ahead of a forest restoration project. This year is collecting base line data on microbial community, respiration and various basic soil parameters

Amazing weather for fieldwork in Cumbria, UK yesterday. An area know for rain and hill fog. We definitely struck lucky.

BES 2024 - alongside excellent talks and posters, I chaired my first session, helped at an ECR event and had some great discussion around (re)establishment of a soil ecology SIG and found a new excellent beer pub in Liverpool. All in all an excellent, if exhausting, three days.

I saw that as shots of whiskey at first - clearly too much festive spirit this weekend
