We aren't allowed to enter our workplace. Even if we end our strike we can't go back inside.

Thinking about how I walked through this random gate in Germany and found myself in the middle of a family’s lunch party. 🙊 #travel #photography #germany

Today, the blog post I'm sharing is about a lesser-known city near Vancouver (you might say it's part of Vancouver) with a beautiful waterfront promenade and a unique multicultural atmosphere. I hope you'll give it a read!

So, for the duration of the strike I will share one blog post each day. My blog will be my only source of income until the strike ends (which is likely to be about a month) so I will be especially appreciative of the time you spend reading and/or sharing the articles I've poured my heart into!

Hi everyone! I have something a little personal to share - I am on strike from my day job, which means I'm not getting paid. Work has become increasingly unsafe and stressful since COVID, and I've only had a 6% salary increase since 2012, which doesn't reflect the reality of the job anymore. (1/2)

I'm working on TWO posts about this top-secret destination. Can you guess what's inside this castle? It's not something I would normally seek out, but I'm definitely glad I visited! #travel #castle #nocheating!

I've said I was going to put some travel photos onto my work computer for the screensaver for YEARS, and I finally got around to doing it this week! Digging through my archives I found this shot of the Batu Caves in #KualaLumpur before they painted the stairs. I definitely prefer them like this.💕

It’s kind of crazy that the 2025 European Capital of Culture, #Chemnitz #Germany, has been under a boil water advisory for immunocompromised individuals FOR WEEKS but hotels and apartment rentals aren’t sharing this information with visitors. I now have to see a specialist when I get home to Canada.
fearlessfemaletravels.com
Because I’m here for work and my employer isn’t open to me leaving early, as they’ve already paid for accommodation and transportation.

You might not get sexually harassed very often (lucky you) but I look foreign and that apparently attracts a lot of attention in your city. To discourage this antisocial behavior there needs to be visible police presence in crowded areas. Otherwise creeps know it’s a free-for-all.
fearlessfemaletravels.com
I thought you said “there are always lots of police at the wine festival”. Now it’s changed to “there’s a police station two blocks away that you can only find out about by asking someone local”. 🙄 Exactly what I’d expect in #Chemnitz.
fearlessfemaletravels.com
Having a police station two blocks away - that isn’t listed on Google Maps so nobody from outside of Chemnitz would know it was there - doesn’t make the festival safer for foreign women who are alone and being harassed or groped.
Screenshot of Google Maps showing no police station is listed at the central bus and tram stop.
fearlessfemaletravels.com
I just went back and looked at the official map of the festival grounds and there is no indication on the map that there is a police booth, safety station or even an information station. Having a designated location is Festival Safety 101.
fearlessfemaletravels.com
I’ve been there four of the last six evenings and not seen one single police officer in the crowd anywhere - by the windmill, by either stage, by the fountains, etc.

I have seen a single pair of private security guards pass by every now and then, particularly near the one stall serving cocktails.
