Thats ultimately what it comes down to, two versions of hinako, both of which exist in the eyes of the two men in her life. Shu sees her as his partner, Kotoyuki sees her as his bride, but Hinako is her own woman and ultimately only she can decide for herself who she is.

While Kotoyuki wants to sweep Hinako off of her feet into a life of luxury, it comes at a cost of her having to purify everything unclean about herself and discard everything about her old life, and become the version of herself that he thinks she should be.

I think this is an oversimplification tbh. While Shu did drug Hinako without her consent, he did it with good intentions, as he wanted her to have a revelation that he did not believe she was capable of having herself, due to his own misogyny.

I dunno, I think the fact that you can damage enemies both by perfect parrying them as well as landing regular attacks makes it feel like sekiro did, the thing that makes sekiro so good is that flow state, and they manage to capture it without the posture mechanic, at least imo

the thing is you do get talisman charges when you perfect parry, which can be used to deal a ton of damage on boss enemies. Also, you do deal internal damage buildup with a perfect parry that becomes real damage when you hit an enemy with a talisman, which is more relevant on later bosses.
