The Ten Commandments didn’t build Texas — and they certainly don’t belong in public school classrooms.

Our laws are built on the Constitution, not one religion’s scripture.

Texas should stand up for freedom, not forced belief.

We believe students deserve freedom of religion — and freedom from Sen. Middleton’s religion.

The Ten Commandments don’t belong in public schools, and people who don’t understand that don’t belong in public office.

“Who am I, as a man standing here now,” he asked, hand on his chest, “to tell you what you should put in your body?” The crowd clapped, and he continued riding the wave of their enthusiasm. “Your body is a gift from God!” The audience roared its approval.

Putting chaplains in public schools is bad enough.

Hernando County chose one who shouldn’t be anywhere near public school children.

Florida’s first "school chaplain" under Gov. Ron DeSantis’ new law isn’t a counselor at all.

He’s a Jan. 6 supporter with extremist views, and he urges parents to avoid public education.

This program is already a disaster.

Christian nationalism is one of the first steps on the road to fascism. At a recent London far-right rally, Christian preachers tore up flags that said “Secular Humanism” and “No Religion, "part of a growing movement to fuse politics with religion, roll back rights, and silence non-religious voices.
Image shows a poster that reads "Early Warning Signs Of Fascism: powerful and continuing nationalism, disdain for human rights, identification of enemies as a unifying cause, supremacy of the military, rampant sexism, controlled mass media, obsession with national security, religion and government intertwined, corporate power protected, labor power suppressed, disdain for intellectuals and the arts, obsession with crime and punishment, rampant cronyism and corruption, fraudulent elections" The poster is superimposed on an image of a far-right protester draped in England flags giving a fascist salute.
