Today on the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day, we honour all those men and women whose bravery and sacrifice brought an end to WW2 and ensured peace for future generations.

Their legacy continues to affect our daily lives in the freedoms we enjoy today and we shall never forget them.

We had a great day out in Folkestone with our amazing KCC candidates Jackie Meade and Adrian Lockwood. A very positive reception on the doorstep, with plenty of discussions about local priorities like the state of our roads, community health services and SEND education provision.

Imagine a TFL-style transport system for Kent.

This is what Labour's Better Buses Bill and Devolution plans could bring us. This is precisely what we need to improve the quality of bus services for commuters in #Folkestone, #Hythe and #RomneyMarsh.

Today, 80 years since Auschwitz was liberated, we remember the 6m Jews murdered in the Holocaust and all victims of the Nazis, as well as the victims of genocide in Armenia, Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, Darfur and many others throughout history. Those dark days must drive us to build a brighter future.

It was great to be out on the doorstep in #Cheriton #Folkestone yesterday with @tonyvaughanmp.bsky.social, @younglabourse.bsky.social and our great councillors listening to residents about their local issues.
