Ours has a vibrate function instead and I've actually had better luck with that for training.

I have bark collars for my dogs, calling it a shock collar is a bit of a misnomer. I've set it to max and "shocked" myself on the arm to see how bad it was and it's about equivalent to a static shock. Yeah you'll feel a tingle but it's not like a fucking taser or anything.
