remember when the democrats called republicans weird for a week and it worked astonishingly well, like better than nearly any other messaging the dems had attempted before, but then they immediately abandoned it because Harris thought teaming up with Liz Cheney would win over conservatives

I think @olivia.science's framework of the "displacement" model is phenomenal at highlighting this difference. AI isn't a colleague - when you use it it reduces time maintaining collegiate discussion in your workplace and synchronising goals and renders you the worker into a babysitter for it.

But I would concede an AI deserves protection probably if and only if it were the sort of being that cares and needs care in the way that is being rendered invisible by people insisting that humans should be subjugated to a subservient position as carers of a machine future.
