I may have misread, are you trying to express that this only works if we ALL put our foot down and stop buying? If so I agree, but that would be the naive idea. People love their games and will tolerate worse and worse from the industry that makes them. It’s a shame

I understand your perspective but I don’t think it’s a matter of naivety, I know my threshold alone would change nothing. I’m just expressing that this is my standard as the consumer, the industry can meet me there or not. There’s no gun to my head, I don’t have to buy anything and neither do you

I’ll buy a game for $100. It’s 2025, I get it. But I expect the game to be 100% complete, bug free, and actually physically on the disc or cart, no digital key to play, no potential for my license to play being ended, ever. I’ll pay that price tag for something I OWN.

a lot of folks are physical media collectors for the sake of preservation. This includes everything from music to movies to games to especially books. Many have taken up making sure banned books are present in their collections. Not foolproof but hey, it’s a start
