The Boy In The Diving Bell, out today. 17 tracks of psych alt-folk, tape loops, and acoustic laments. Made with a 1960s reel-to-reel, first takes, mistakes left in. Warts, bed-hair, yesterday’s breath.

4 years ago, on a Scottish island with 500 inhabitants, I converted part of a 150-year-old, stone-built garden shed into a recording studio. It was cold. Very cold. 2 years ago, on a different Scottish island with 20,000 people, I built a spare-room home studio in an actual house. This is progress.

Newspaper Stairs is the 5th track from The Boy In The Diving Bell. One of my favourites. Weird, analogue-leaning experimental funk with an outsider pop edge. Sounds like running down a flat 80s Amiga corridor with tape wobble and cheap synth bass.
