I remember that last Pidgey Spotlight Hour had this same bonus, and I was farming XP to hit Level 50
I caught X amount of Pidgeys in the first half hour of the event, then I mass-evolved each one with a lucky egg in the last remaining half hour. Managed to earn something like 500k XP
