I am happy to have this out to share. I playtested this, and really enjoyed the addition of visuals to a Type Help inspired Timeline Mystery. I think anyone who likes constructing timelines should try this out!
my new game The Red Pearls of Borneo is out a week early and available for free on itch.io

You are a clairvoyant investigator in 1948 London, exploring the psychic echoes of a tragedy that occurred eight years prior on a remote plantation in Borneo.

Just finished the demo of Alien Morgue from Burgum Games. It's a less stressed Papers Please, that evolves into a cross referencing black hole. I had to look up dependent organs for different species in different body parts. Should be fun to play when it releases!

Just rolled credits on @inkle.co's TR-49. It's a 1-2 sitting experience, which I found really refreshing. While I wanted more WW2 conspiracies, I had fun with my time in it. I am sure there's plenty of bonus things I didn't find in my playthrough, in fine Inkle tradition!

I am glad to see this game with a new release date. After playing the demo early last year I have been looking forward to this. The Demo is still up, and I recommend people give it a try.
📣 Release date announcement! 📣

Murder at the Birch Tree Theater will launch on Mac and PC on March 16th.

Here's a brand new trailer!

I forgot to post yesterday, but we released our episode on the 2023 Murder on the Orient Express game. After being somewhat down on the previous Poirot games, Andrew and John have more fun with this one. Episode should be up on Youtube, Apple, and RSS as well!

Just finished the demo for The Big Hollow 1982. Decent gameplay, I am not yet sold on the way it portrays Behavioral Profiling in crime solving. I am curious to play the final product though.

I just played through this demo today, and I found it delightful. It started out looking simple, but kept adding layers of complexity until the primary case wrapped. It's one of the few games that let's you define relationships yourself on a detective web. I want to see more from this team!
The demo of The Granny Detective Society is now playable on Steam for the Steam Detective Fest 🕯️

A cozy investigation:
one small street
a looping timeline
quiet clues & hidden secrets

Please, enjoy the demo and

Just finished the demo for Lost Wiki: Kozlovka. While the demo was pretty straightforward, I am always ready for a Wiki dive, and this game could be a great one with the full version. We should find out in the next 2 months or so

Played Mr. Investigator for an hour today. It did not work well for me. After graphics issues, erratic menus, view bobbing and clunky movement, I gave up. Maybe it can be fixed in time, but today the jank overpowered the rest.

Just played the demo for Case Files: Internal Affairs. An FMV mystery, I didn't get to what I think are the good bits within the demo constraints. I should play the older entries in the series to get a better snapshot of what it's like deep in the game.

Just played through this little delight! It takes cross referencing to the maximum level, teaching you basic SQL to handle the massive amount of information you sift through. You still have to use your detective brain to figure out your search parameters.

Detective Fest on Steam is here, and options are plentiful. Instead of just a big list, I want to try “If you played this, have you looked at these?” for many notable detective games and some of my favs. Each top level game will have a demo you can try out now, and all are released on Steam

I think anyone interested in detective games should try this out!
The Detective's Apprentice demo is out now! Sharpen your deduction skills and uncover Cleo's beginnings, as she solves her first three cases.

Just released our episode on The Case of the Golden Idol's expansions, and catching up with John's thoughts and feelings on the base game.

I also fixed the issue with Youtube uploads being private, not public, so that should release shortly after Spotify

2026 has the potential to be an even better year for detective games than last year, which had at least 46 releases! I made a thread here for upcoming games I am aware of. If I have played the Demo or Playtested it, I will describe the games a bit, as well as when they state their release dates.

I have completed this, and I recommend it for anyone who liked Type Help even some. The updates it got yesterday should help a lot for the biggest pain points I saw people having as well.

You know I like your game when I make a spreadsheet for it!
I enjoyed Type Help so much that I decided to create an interactive fiction game in the same style.

What Happened to the Crew is a totally free terminal-based sci-fi mystery inspired by Type Help, Obra Dinn and Immortality.

It’s available now on itch.io
