Hope Claude Code's VS Code extension adds integration with VS Code Speech soon. I used it a lot for simple voice prompts in Copilot.

Gauge is live. gauge.team

If you want your team to share their moods and productivity to keep a pulse on your teams, it may be what you need.

Anonymous, simple and hopefully useful to both team members and teams.

Ok Slack, if I spend time to create and sort various groups of people, huddles and channels that is important, stop bloody hiding them just because I don't chitchat to all of them frequently. It is why they are grouped at the top!

Cancelled my Cursor subscription to go back for GitHub copilot. Happy with that.

But the day my sub expired they announce Cursor 2.0 and with lots of features I’d like (worktrees etc). Grrr.

My coworking desk yesterday was in a Waffle House! waffle.org.uk in Axminster has so far been one of the best spots I've worked from. Busy with people from the whole community, so it felt like a lovely place. This was my desk view for a bit yesterday, until the sun hit my face and I moved. 😎 🧇

Grr, I hate auto-updating feeds. I clicked to view a post on Linkedin, and it refreshed the page, so I accidentally clicked on a request to join a women's group. 😮

Sorry, 'Women in Rust', I am sure you are doing great things, but no need to accept my request to join. 🫣

My ISP is down, and took with it the local mobile cell tower which my entire family connects to. Thankfully my 2nd sim with my Norwegian number uses another network so they are all desperately hot-spotting via my phone which seems on fire. Watching those roaming GB go down quickly…

AI in SDLC = the End of Outsourcing? blog.flurdy.com/2025/08/ai-e... I wrote down some quick notes on how the outsourcing business will look like now that AI agents are spreading across companies' SDLC
AI in SDLC = the End of Outsourcing?
Will the need to outsource development end? By AI agents? Pros and cons debated.

LOL, my AI agent just did a `git reset --hard origin/master`!

And I had not pushed for a while, so it deleted a lot of work.

`git reset` is not set to auto-run in Cursor, but I clicked before my brain said: Hell no!

After some reflog knife juggling, we are back, but that was funny.

I would love for Cursor chat to just prompt me with a "yes" or "proceed" button. That is what I type 90% of the time... I can see how AI agent chats will be great for devs with typing disabilities, etc, but only if more text-to-speech or buttons. And for lazy devs like me.

Using AI agents when working from home on solo projects is like having a pairing partner again.

Although maybe not in a mutual seniority respect as I do backseat-drive/ivory-tower it a lot...

I have always hacked on hobby projects to stay up to date. But always limited to just one new shiny thing, otherwise it most likely gets too complex and is never finished. Many examples on code.flurdy.com

The famous compile-time fencing by XKCD xkcd.com/303/ needs modernising to fencing whilst waiting for the AI agents' LLM model to finish generating a result... 😩

So addicted to doodling houses/villages with Tiny Glade. Such a serene and calming game to apply my basic design skills with. You'd think there was not much to it, yet it is great. Highly recommended. store.steampowered.com/app/2198150/...

I’m 100% at the AWS summit for the tech talks and chats. Not for racing cars, throw NFL footballs… Where is the queue for this again 😆

And relax... #Easter

Who am I kidding. I got kids. Off to build snow dens, sledge/ski jumps, a village of snow men, and snowcats…

The Andromeda Paradox has melted my mind. I kind of see why it makes sense on that gigantic scale. But also - no it also does not make sense as that breaks my basic understanding of things. 🙃

I still strongly believe that 'pairing' must be 'opt-out' by default, not 'opt-in'. blog.flurdy.com/2017/03/pair... Still swim against the current to convince people of this all the time. Pair or even mob works great remotely with the tools we have now. blog.flurdy.com/2015/03/pair...

Synergy now works on Wayland. Great! Was not expecting that until 2032. I have been missing it for years since I switched to Wayland. symless.com/synergy/help... Now I just need to bump my desktop from a few years old PopOS to a newer Fedora for it to work with my laptops.

Me swearing and mocking my fellow townspeople as I was stuck in traffic on the school-run as a tiny bit of snow/sleet fell on my Hampshire village/town, then we eventually crept forward around the bend to see road works and temporary traffic lights. Whoops my bad.
