❄️ Recent icy conditions across the Forth catchment mean our rivers are at their coldest, with fish conserving energy through winter. Cold, clean, oxygen-rich water helps wildlife thrive year-round. Magnus captured this shot from the River Teith yesterday. How’s your local river looking? Share below!

In 2025 we worked with volunteers, communities & partners and monitored fish, restored habitats, tackled invasive species, & more - helping protect & improve rivers.
Huge thanks to everyone who made it possible, and best wishes for 2026 from FRT! 🌊🌳🐟

Huge thanks to the Biodiversity Challenge Fund & ScotGov's Nature Restoration Fund (managed by NatureScot) for supporting work on the Allan Water. And a big thanks to the volunteers from SEPA, Network Rail and the local community: ongoing monitoring is vital, and your help keeps these trees healthy!

Photos from a tree-maintenance session at Deaf Knowe last week! Despite a chilly start, we checked around 1,000 trees ❄ Great effort! We also found plastic balls in-river 😔 luckily a volunteer is cleaning them, hoping to donate to a charity that may send them to Ukraine.

Help pupils raise trout, protect rivers, and learn for life. 🐟

Fish in the Class offers kids hands-on learning and experiences they can't get from textbooks, agreed Jean, a deputy head from West Lothian, after Fish in the Class ran at her school.

Can you help us run Fish in the Class 2026?
