I am not sure whether I would have avoided infection if I would just have taken the vaccine and then do nothing else to avoid the virus.

That's quite exceptional, because there are worker shortages everywhere. In the Netherlands you can go and care for your patients without a mask if you feel well enough to do the work.

Yes, the R-value will drop if everyone gets vaccinated. But sadly there will always be people who will say that they have the right to decide what goes into their bodies. At the same time they mock others who try to prevent breathing in virus. As if that's not putting stuff into your body.

But there are so many breakthrough infections. It might work when we vaccinate everyone on the planet at the same time, because the R-value may stay under 1 for enough time.

To protect the people around you, it is more effective to wear an FFP2 mask when you share indoor air with them. The vaccine does little to prevent infection. It mostly prevents hospitalization.

Because there is little demand worldwide, so the production cost goes up. This vaccine needs special cooling as well.

Like in a line, when the person in front of you has been served, you move to their spot. And you breathe in their air. The only way to deal with this is either excellent ventilation and air filtration or masks.

But it would be more effective to clean indoor air, particularly in schools. Vaccines reduce the risk of long Covid a bit, but it is better to reduce circulation of this virus.

Best wear an FFP2 or FFP3 mask. Vaccines do not protect well against infection. They reduce the risk of hospitalization, but you can still spread it to the people that you care for.

The vaccine does not protect well against infection, which you then still can pass one. Wear a well-fitting FFP2 or FFP3 mask to protect the vulnerable.

When you cough up a lung inside the store, that's perfectly fine. But somehow you are a legitimate target when you wear respiratory protection against all those sick people everywhere.

And people keep mocking me for my FFP2 mask. It is sad. They do not know whether I am clinically vulnerable, or whether I care for someone clinically vulnerable, or whether I can simply not afford getting sick, or whether I was really sick from previous infections.
