James Hayes was of the same stripe as the pioneer of the American calligraphic style, Bill Dwiggins, carried on by the likes of Arnold Bank and Ray DaBoll.

I've studied with excellent calligraphy teachers in Friends of Calligraphy classes and workshops. These are a few invented alphabets I've worked on, on my own or with them.

This month, in honor of the recently celebrated FOC 50th anniversary, we are posting some calligraphed songs from some of our early and influential members. One of the annual holiday party rituals in the 70s, 80s, and later was singing from calligraphed songbooks.
