Oh yes! We had a couple of ciphers during the recital, but our crack team of claviorganum specialists (aka ‘The C Team’) had them fixed quickly.

Good point Jacob!
There are a few, but the fact that this one is still owned by the same family and is still in the same (rather grand) house that it was bought for is quite something. It was fascinating to hear it and learn more about it.

Something special today: Claviorganum of the Day! The only claviorganum still owned by the family that bought it over 250 years ago. Played by John Kitchen, with commentary by Eleanor Smith-Guido, both Committee members of the Friends, with soprano Mhairi Lawson. Part of the ace Lammermuir Festival.

Previously the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht used different harpsichords in the daily recitals at Lutherse Kerke - this year they are using the same instrument. So today’s Harpsichord of the Day is the same as recently, but the player is different - Arianna Radaelli.

Harpsichord of the day, and a superb young player! Maciej Skrzeczkowski in the Fringe of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht. I predict he’ll soon be in the main Festival!

The Friends (well, the Friend in charge of social media) on tour at the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht. Harpsichord of the day. This concert was part of the Fringe (sounds familiar) where young musicians show us their talent. Maybe we’ll see them in Edinburgh one day?
