People will often want mutually exclusive things from you.

Sometimes the mutually exclusive requests come from two separate groups - and you have to be the one to reconcile them (which one or both groups will not be happy about).

And sometimes, they even come from the same group.

Yeah you're right on that.

I noticed that more in general as a dev - some people will effectively demand you wave a magic wand and make everything perfect.

But you can't, because it's not how real world works - but that won't stop people from getting mad at you that you haven't.

The thing is - it doesn't have to. We design systems for long term compatibility and those generally just keep working even with major rewrites and upgrades.

Quirks don't. But people use them, even if we warn and then get upset when they break.

I've played Resonite regularly for the past week and I love how much the community shares so much between them.

I'll be like "I wish I could do this with my model" and someone pulls out an installer for that very thing. I appreciate the fuck out of people who make and share this stuff for free.

When people abuse rendering quirks in @resonite.com it makes things difficult for us - either we'll have to break their content when switching to a new renderer or the switch will take much longer (or potentially never happen).
