Tldr; couple who should absolutely not have had children pump out four of them and leave them to mostly raise eachother. Kids all grow up with a varied assortment of Issues. Youngest two are hit the hardest as the Issues trickle down. Not one of them knows how to talk to each other normally 👍

Aria sees Rex as a failure and a disappointed and it weighs heavily on her, because he was Supposed to be better. She was supposed to make him better, but she failed.

She just... doesn't realized that Sonata failed her, too.

And neither of them realize Adagio's failings.

This family is a mess 😩

But Adagio is also Old and Tired now, and she doesn't want to be anyone's role model. She never wanted to be anyone's mother or saint, but she did it for Sonata's sake.

Sonata tried to do the same for Aria, and Aria tried to do the same for Rex, but none of them were ready for it. Vicious cycle

Both Sonata and Aria cling on to their beliefs and they both still look up to Adagio as a hero and a legend.

Adagio... couldn't care less, honestly.

She loves her sisters. She loves Rex. She loves their parents, despite their failings.

He tried, he really really tried to live up to his sisters' expectations and make them all proud, but he was never meant for that role. He eventually ran off with a satyr, transed his gender, changed his name and left for Boralus.

He broke the cycle in a way, but he's still trapped by regret.

You see the root of the problem is that nobody in this family has a single nurturing bone in their body. Not their parents, not Adagio, not Sonata and much less Aria. They all have issues.

Rex was supposed to follow Sonata's footsteps as a priestess, but he never held as much faith as Sonata did.

.... but not Old and Tired enough to have a fourth kid some 100 odd years later, because that's when Rex was born.

By now Aria was an adult and the expected family tradition was for her to raise Rex, which she did sorta try to do... to mixed results. Rex grew up with Issues.

Sonata instilled Aria with the same values Adagio taught her and Aria grew up admiring Adagio just as much as Sonata did even though she barely knew her.

Mom and dad didn't leave Sonata to raise her little sister completely alone, but she did get the most of the work since they were Old and Tired

Some 10k years later, their parents are Old old even by night elf standards. Not Decrepit and Falling Apart old, but definitely too old to have more children.

... or so people thought, because that's when Aria was born.

And because their parents were, as stated, Old, Sonata raised her.

Back then, the Wardens didn't exist yet. Adagio was a sentinel, but she was also a second mother to Sonata. Sonata grew up looking up to her and wanting to be her - especially after Adagio became a Warden and Sonata started training to become a priestess. They saw much less of eachother.

Adagio is the oldest of the four, born before the War of the Ancients. She's up there with Maiev and Tyrande in age. Her parents were not old when they had her, but they weren't young elves anymore either.

Sonata is the second eldest. She was a child during the War of the Ancients.

The thing with my nelf siblings goes more or less like this:

Elves do not have many children. Night elves specifically- usually parents will have one or two at most. The Mooncrown line currently has four heirs - Adagio, Sonata, Aria and Rex. Four is a lot, especially when you know the context 🧵

Likewise the Illidari are elves of taste, because their newest companion is a 10k year old tall muscular woman covered head to toe in scars and who is also slightly demon juiced from exposure and could easily toss anyone in the Fel Hammer out of a window. They too can appreciate the sight

In my canon she's something akin to a diplomat between the Wardens and the Illidari so she was actually hanging out with them a lot during Legion times. She dislikes Illidan as much as any other regular nelf would but she does appreciate the Illidari's determination

Okay. I also made a DH for remix (actually my warden who is a normal nelf but playing her as a DH for transmogs + it's funny) and usually when I've made DHs in the past I picked Kayn to be my left hand arm man. But this time I picked Altruis just for funsies and. I'm sorry to say I kinda want him
