Really enjoying the #dipaday in October campaign run by @sascampaigns.bsky.social for a safer environment in our seas, rivers and waterways, this involves a daily dip be it ocean, river, waterway, plunge pool or even a cold shower!! #ocean #cornwall

Wow, hard to say! Collage shows a group of faves from Cornwall and Ireland and England. Details in the pics.
My absolute fave is an Orchid, the Frog x Common spotted, what a beauty.

My local dune system was so dry I didn’t think I would find anything for #Wildflowerhour but here is Common Centaury and those I did find were mostly really dried up. These being the best. I also spotted some Autumn Ladies Tresses too so a good walk was had!

Thank you @bsbiireland.bsky.social lovely to see this many still flowering orchids this late on at the Burren! Also to see in Galway Autumn Ladies Tresses and in Mayo the Irish Ladies Tresses. Among the beauty of wildflowers and among such majesty of vista! A trip to remember but back next year! ☺️❤️
Holidaying around Ireland. Today at the loughs of Mayo in search of Irish Ladies Tresses. For #wildflowerhour found a type of hoverfly on sneezewort and an insect on a lesser water plantain. Grass of Parnasus pic for its beauty too.

#swift in a plant pot. Today I was working in a cottage in Newlyn and heard fluttering in the conservatory. I found this plant pot and a trapped swift inside that couldn’t escape. I took the pot onto the balcony and eventually the swift dropped down and flew off. All is ok 👍 #cornwallbirds #birding
#Swallows in a bus stop. Local bus stop near me functions as a bring and borrow book store as well, housing this delightful Swallows nest with three young and an adult. Delightful sight ❤️ #cornwallbirds #birding
#wildflowerhour #hairyplants #beautifuldemoiselle #beautyeverywhere Here, near Sennen Cove, Cornwall- by the sea lots of Daucus carota subsp. Maritimus or Sea Carrot among them plus tonnes of these Damselfly by the stream.
Hi Steve, thanks for organising, I had a fabulous time, learnt so much ☺️👍
Thank you, I will. I spotted I think Early Marsh var Pulchella, a small group earlier this month.. To hear the Nightjar as well as the Heath Fragrant made my weekend!
How amazing to go in search of a bird and it it’s call at dusk over the weekend, yet to find an elusive (to me anyways) orchid by chance on the lizard peninsula

#heathfragrantorchid (I think!) But fragrant it was! Just lovely❤️ Plus I heard the bird☺️

Walked alongside the Marazion Marshes this early eve & heard Cetti’s & Reed Warbler, saw Linnets, Dunnocks, Herons and Egrets. Here is St Michaels Mount with #pyramidorchid scattered across the Marazion dunes, the garden escape Erigeron glauca has really naturalised along this stretch as well.

And earlier this week I went to check out a coastal field of Green Winged Orchids in South Devon and was treated to a beautiful dance of a pair of Orange Tips! I love seeing the bee activity on the Echium’s down here. Fingers crossed it’s a better year for our insects and birds etc 🙂
Hi so I’ve seen the odd Painted Lady (I think on the lanes around me in far west of Cornwall and I saw some lovely Speckled Wood up at RSPB Arne a couple weeks ago, several in fact.
Could be that the warm spring weather is playing a part?
Although so far this year I am getting more screen splat than i did all of last year! Also i am definitely seeing more butterflies in the different gardens i work at.. (I’m in Cornwall btw) and I barely saw any until around August last year.
