She haa a strong sense of justice, as well as her outbursts. she has a heart for the animals of oz, and generally does not like the idea of people being mistreated. whenever she witnesses other people being mistreated she herself becomes very upset

elphaba is very autistic coded

felphaba is very reserved and quiet compared to most students at shiz. even when she befriends galinda, she’s still to herself a lot of the time. , elphaba opts for studying outside (which reminds me of sensory overload).

Nessa seemed to speak very little as a toddler. When those bullies came in to jeer at young Elphaba, Nessa closed her eyes and ears and started bawling. This reminded me of a meltdown, which makes me wonder if Nessa is autistic too

They handle her chair and forcibly move her and think they’re entitled to her. Whereas with Elphaba, they have nothing but an “off putting” feeling toward her, they treat her with disdain and they ask a lot of invasive rude questions that she’s learned to screen for when first meeting someone.

invisible/social disability, specifically autism. It shows the way people treat mental vs physical disabilities with Elphaba and Nessa people are awful and ableist to Nessa, but they treat her more like inspiration porn. “Tragically beautiful girl,” so bright and full of potential.

Elphaba represents those of us who either can't mask as well or don't care to. She isn't afraid of not being seen as normal because regardless of how she acts, she will be.

Galinda represents a high masking person or at least someone who thinks they are. She practices everything, she works for hours to ä be perfect, because that's what she perceives as right or socially acceptable.
