Franchise co-creator Bob Thompson wanted each piece of Bionicle media to be instantly recognizable. The sets, ads, comics, online content, games and the movie were all meant to have different art styles. Designs were open to interpretation, as shown in internal documents. Set accuracy wasn't a rule.
