Reintroduction time? Former grad student, gamer, composer, geek. I generally post about about Linux and video games. I desperately need to finish some music. (I used to use csound and LISP, but am teaching myself supercollider.) I think 12-tone equal temperament is boring.

As much as I like linux, just buying your phone-using girlfriend a laptop and putting slackware on it is probably the absolute wrong way to get her interested in computers. (thread on LQN.)

Like if we're comparing apples to apples, I think Beyonce's Lemonade hangs together as a long form album much better. (To be fair, it's really hard to write a 40-minute work.)

That I didn't know. interesting! (for the record I don't think this album's as strong as the others. As a long form thing, I don't think it's got enough hooks to keep me focused. It's just kind of one long thing.)
