The galaxy has a bright, whitish core that fades into expansive, swirling spiral arms. These arms are predominantly a mix of blue and purple hues, indicative of star-forming regions and hot, young stars. Details: Within the spiral arms, several brighter patches of light, which are nebulae (HII regions), are visible. The background is filled with countless individual stars, providing a sense of depth and scale to the cosmic scene.

Dusty Orion

3 weeks ago I got the chance to travel to dark skies for the first time in over 2 years! This is an image of the famous Orion nebula plus the Running Man Nebula, all against a backdrop of dust and gas.
61 x 3 mins (+ 60 x 10 sec exposures for the bright core).

The Orion Nebula M42 (centre right) and Running Man Nebula NGC 1977 (centre-left) against a backdrop of gas and dust. M42 is mostly magenta in the centre with swirling tendrils of blue framing it. NgC 1977 is mostly blue, reflection nebulosity with some magenta peeping through in its centre. Some bright blue-white stars dot the field with some fainter, yellow-orange stars also visible. Captured with a Skywatcher Esprit 80 ED telescope and ZWO 2600mc camera.

The wonderful Clavius crater in the Moon's Southern highlands. I love this crater as its so distinctive, and the many craters within it, with a wide range of sizes, makes it a great test of imaging and scope resolution.
The smallest features visible in this image are around 1 mile across

Deep-sky image of the Pleiades (M45; NGC 1432/1435) in Taurus, ~440 light-years away and ~100 Myr old. The frame shows hundreds of hot B-type members, not just seven: the brightest include Alcyone, Atlas with close companion Pleione, Merope, Maia, Electra, Taygeta, Celaeno, and the Asterope pair. Wispy blue reflection nebulosity veils the cluster—strongest around Merope (NGC 1435) and Maia (NGC 1432)—with faint dusty filaments and soft halos across a wide field. Stellar cores are tight with symmetric Newtonian diffraction spikes; overall color is blue-white stars against a dense, warmer background starfield. Captured with a Newton 130/900 and Sony A7S over 6 hours of exposure.

This is NGC7293, the Helix Nebula. I got a couple of hours of it last month, but that didn't feel like enough. I got another couple last night. I'd like to double the exposure time, but the seeing is supposed to be awful tonight, and there's rain coming. I'll try. #Astronomy #Astrophotography
