I've uploaded a new anime convention videos, this time the Anime Expo 1992 costume contest. This version was a produced video by the con and aired on their in-room cctv channels where I recorded it. That was a very neat feature of the old Red Lion Inn.. #otakuarchive youtu.be/QRpKKPwjZ04?...

nope, absolutely would not be the same. I really did not like at the time the Cagliostro dub from Streamline, and without Robotech i would not have been in the fandom at all. After seeing his 'underground' Kiki dub and some of their later work at the time, I softened my opinions on the him/the works
I wholeheartedly concur. I even have in print my shall we say, 'opinions' on his work tinged by youthful exuberance...But he was important and misunderstood, and was generally nice to interact with personally. he is definitely missed
I've uploaded a 'new' camcorder recording I made at the anime con Anime America 1993. This time it's from the Carl Macek / Streamline Pictures panel. please enjoy this look at the early days of anime cons/fandom. youtu.be/Xq_BsUAs97M @geraldawo.bsky.social #otakuarchive

Bob and I are both from Indiana so I'd known him a while.
1993 I'd gone to the 2 back to back cons (AnAm,AX) and my first time with a camcorder, hence why I have some other vids in YT. I really didn't know what I was doing e regards to it. Just wanted something I could remember it later by
I've digitized a home video i made and forgot about for 30 years, walkthrough of the start of Anime America 1993's dealers hall, including appearances by AnimEigo , cpm's john O'Donnell and Carl Macek among others. #otakuarchive @geraldawo.bsky.social @worldofcrap.bsky.social youtu.be/3X5Tq9Gnj9g

Does this violate some law of physics, like crossing the streams?
Yep. I'd like to also start to be able to put stuff up there myself. But I don't know the ins and outs of doing it 'correctly' :). Mind giving me a few pointers?
I've uploaded a piece of anime con ephemera here: youtu.be/8-fRFvpXUHM, the AnimEigo panel from Anime Expo '93. Full of awful vhs camcordering and sound issues from yours truly. thru a quick pass of whisper subs on it to make up for the non-mic audio being so low. #otakuarchive

Random pic from Anime Expo '93, dueling camcorders with @docsane.bsky.social Neil Nadelman in the hallway waiting for the dealer hall to open..
It nuked the stream about 25 minutes from the end
Honestly just the screenshot of heino holding the obscenely large wine glass made me want to use some of it
Was just testing my setup. Show is going to be this Saturday

been flexing my utterly useless skill of having random #lostmedia around. I've been uploading previously 'lost' episodes of the G4 launch era scripted MMORPG machinima show, Portal, to my YT channel (www.youtube.com/@gavvhell) I've posted about 20 'found' eps so far. #g4 #g4tv #portal #g4archive

The answer is at that Anime Expo, @animeigo.com hosted a panel that became a de facto focus group. They debuted snippets of their first ever dub (riding bean) where they showed multiple takes of scenes, with the audience voting and gaving feedback on the various choices.
Going thru some old convention documents... remember this @worldofcrap.bsky.social ? 😀
I'm starting to digitize some of my old vhs camcorder recordings from 'ancient' anime cons. Anyone have suggestions for audio tools/effects i can work with/wo premiere to help with noise reduction/cleanup? (Looking atm at the AnimEigo panel from '93. Believe its AX but it might have been AnAm)
Awesome! This episode pairs well with some of Alex Smith's They Create Worlds episodes on Ramtek and other bronze age companies
