Yep. Sometimes I run into someone with a concern, but away from the online audience and ego defence reflex typically those concerns are ameliorated as soon as we start talking about whatever the specific issue is.

It was mostly the USSR so that's what I discussed, but every society that contributed to defeating the Nazis such as China, Britain, the US rejected Luddism in their own way & this was a literally essential step towards them being able to defeat the Nazis.

Yeah, although I disapprove of Louvre's recent conduct & consider it a blockworthy offence, it is nowhere near the systematic & intentional incitement that Libs of TikTok engages in, at least not yet.

I literally just got back after months of absence and am catching up on all of this now, how would I even have that information? What I do know is one of the first things I saw on their page is them mocking someone who I know for certain has received death threats from Luddites.

They're saying that Libs of TikTok is the equivalent of Radio Rwanda for trans people (true) and disputing your characterisation of Louvre as being equivalent to that morally. Pointing out that a hypothetical "Radio Rwanda for leftists" would be pro-trans is not relevant to what they're saying.

Oh, I actually don't agree that that meets the definition of murder, & therefore don't think it reflects poorly on the left. I'm legally and TOS prevented from explaining my reasoning for that position so I can't elaborate much further than what I've already said, however.

The people who actually defeated Hitler were only able to do so because they explicitly rejected Luddism in favour of recognising that all technology belongs to the workers, who were collectively responsible for its creation and therefore collectively entitled to the benefits of its use.

The exact reason for the Luddites failure is that they attacked the material instruments of production rather than the form of society which utilised those instruments. Attacking tools is a losing strategy that, in the actual path of history, lost.

When I went to research Louvre because of this post I saw that they'd highlighted to mock at least one person that I know has gotten death threats from the neo-Luddites before. I'd be very surprised if that post didn't inspire more death threats.

Okay, it sounds like the thing I should be looking for is the tenuous relationship to the truth, as that wasn't present in my memory of a few months ago. I agree that anti-AI posting has near-100% prevalence of dishonest or misleading fact statements.

I wasn't kidding about just getting back, I haven't visited Bluesky for months so I have zero idea what has happened with the Louvre. Last I saw they did a great job mocking Will Stancil saying something stupid. Can anyone fill me in?
