Knowing the UCMJ empowers soldiers to understand their legal obligations and to know that they do not have to follow illegal orders, and in fact must not follow those that are "patently" illegal, i.e. to kill unarmed civilians. Nothing that was said contradicts this foundational legal principle.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

The enlisted oath, unlike the officer oath, does include this provision: "I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me."

This line is not accurate: "a law barring retired service members from issuing orders to active duty soldiers." 10 USC 688 simply allows retired service members to be recalled. Doesn't say anything about them giving orders to active duty service members.

While I appreciate the desire to focus on our Soldier's mental health, especially over the holidays, I think requiring daily checks, especially when Soldiers are on leave, is not the right answer.

I would characterize their action a kidnapping. Kidnapping includes any action that restricts a person's freedom of movement, even for a short period. Not just at the intern, but a judge. They should be arrested.

Of course, they never define what they are opposing. They refer to the "horrors" without saying what those are. Our Scandinavian allies are all doing well with socialist governments, no horrors there. Instead of intelligent debate/discussion about policy, they are creating a boogey man. So stupid.
