Intro: I’m VGO, the only ortho surgeon in my county, 4 hrs from nearest city. I’m passionate about providing high quality care to my community, mountain life, my kids, and skiing. I love skiing.

FAAOS, FAAHKS, former AAOS social media ambassador, ex NFL.

This is my literal back yard.
It’s soooo hot (65F plus humid). I’m the sweatiest MFer alive.
Look at the big brain on Ashley!
That can be a hard conversation. Hopefully your surgeon is taking the time to explain options to you and help make a decision.
I was summoned…

I’m curious why you feel the “need” to schedule a surgery?

Rare to have a good candidate for TKR AND arthroscopy. Moderate OA doesn’t do well with a scope.

Sometimes pts are in the middle zone (too bad for scope, not enough for TKR) and surgery isn’t likely to meet goals. 1/2
I guess I’ll have to go down to 4 teaspoons of toothpaste just to be safe.
How much toothpaste can I swallow before surgery?
Tuned up our skis and now enjoying Snowbird.
Age and activity level. A frail elderly person, nursing home patient, etc. is very unlikely to get surgery in my practice. Good evidence there is no meaningful benefit in that population regardless of displacement.
The past 2 days have been some of the best days skiing I’ve ever had. Deep powder with my boys. Jumping off rocks, bumps, and anything else. Fresh tracks all day. Love it.
Maybe it was the open bar, but I felt like my dancing at my niece’s bat mitvah was incredible last night.

*maybe = definitely

Same. I want bones and dogs. And my dog, Bones.
What a terrible day to be literate.
I think we are deluding ourselves. They wont be able to solve any of these 1 step age 4+ puzzles.
Wait until they learn about tariffs.
This is the kind of outside the box thinking PRP needs right now.
Someone always pops in and says that.
