The Lyre Ensemble and their work with ancient texts and instruments is how I first found out about Andy Lowings and his reconstructions of ancient lyres, including the striking Gold Lyre of Ur which Andy performs on both the Civ VI and Civ VII soundtracks.
It was an honor to work alongside hundreds of world-class musicians from around the world to bring this music to life and I believe we have created something truly unique and special.
To my Recording Academy friends, with first round voting underway I would be thrilled to have you consider the soundtrack for Sid Meier's Civilization VII in multiple categories.
It was great to work together again with some performers who also recorded for the base game - the FILMharmonic Orchestra, Prague, Andy Brick, Amir Vahab on tar, daf, and tonbek, and John Rugolo and Nathan Egloff on rope snares.
My theme for Qajar was recently released as part of the @civilization.2k.com VII Right to Rule DLC. This an arrangement of a tasnif from the Qajar period, "Tā be Zolf-e Khish," and, of course, "Salâm-e Šâh," which was the national anthem of Qajar.
The @civilization.2k.com VI soundtrack was recently updated with 38 additional tracks that were originally missing from the initial soundtrack release almost 9 years ago. Be sure to check it out!
Our previous collaboration for Civ VI was just at the start of the shutdowns in 2020, which forced me to cancel a flight to record in person. We figured out a plan that had me shipping her recording gear to record and listen remotely.
My theme for Dai Viet was recently released as part of the Right to Rule Collection for @civilization.2k.com VII. It was great to collaborate with Thi Lalum again for this track!

It was an honor to work with an amazing group of Bulgarian musicians for this arrangement: vocalists Trayana Stankova and Kathryn Mitchell, Valeri Georgiev - kaval, Kalin Kirilov - tambura, Bryndyn Weiner - tupan, Angel Dobrev - gadulka, Petar Aleksiev - gaida.
We see various harps, flutes, long neck lutes, clapping, dancing and what seems to be a feeling of energy and excitement. Here's the theme: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FaL...
I had the privilege of collaborating with Egyptian-born performer, educator, and speaker Karim Nagi for the music of Ancient Egypt in Civ VII. This print hanging in his studio, along with similar wall paintings of musicians from Ancient Egypt were a guiding light for the theme.
I don't sell many of these, but it's always quite a sight when I do - score books including all of the industrial era themes and expansion cinematics in Civ VI!
Very happy to share my theme for Great Britain that was recently released for Civ VII. It's an arrangement of Hubert Parry's "And did those feet in ancient time," commonly known as "Jerusalem."
