Use auto-complete attributes in forms to save user time. It takes a lot of time for disabled folks to fill in a form. It'll save them precious minutes and efforts, and will improve your overall usability. (I talk about that in my books) #accessibility #a11y

Support device orientation. Don't lock users into one mode (like portrait only). People with strong motor disabilities sometimes can't rotate their phone. #accessibility #a11y

Accessibility improves the experience for aging populations too. Yes, you can hide yourself in your youth, your current abilities, but one day you'll need accessibility too. #accessibility #a11y

Test your website at 200% zoom, it's a WCAG AA requirement for people with low vision. Know that some people might make a 500% zoom on your content. Test your forms and critical information. #accessibility #a11y

Avoid low-contrast hover/focus effects, they can be invisible to some users. Make them obvious, they are here to be seen. #accessibility #a11y

People with disabilities control $13 trillion in disposable income globally. And your website is still not accessible? Your bad, really! Your competitor will grab this potential market for you. #accessibility #a11y

Ensure interactive elements like sliders have keyboard controls. I'm not talking about slideshow, as you should already be avoiding them for obvious usability reasons, right? #accessibility #a11y

Over 15% of adults report hearing loss, yet many websites and videos lack captions. Auto-captions are ok, but for complex or niche topics, they are often insufficient. #accessibility #a11y

Check your site's responsiveness on various devices. Accessibility = flexibility. Accessibility = diverse ways of accessing your content. Respect this diversity of you want more visits on your website. #accessibility #a11y

Avoid autoplaying sound. It disrupts screen readers and frustrates many users. I've seen folks rage quitting a website because of sudden sounds and confusion. You don't want that for your website, trust me. Instead, simply ask your users. #accessibility #a11y

Some users navigate entirely via voice commands. Do you know how to make your website work for them? Did you know it even existed? That's why I'm making this series of small posts. Follow for more and to support my work #accessibility #a11y

Always add language attributes (like lang=en) for better assistive tech support. You wouldn't want your English webpage read by a french voice assistant, right? #accessibility #a11y

Liquid Glass Is Cracked, and Usability Suffers in iOS 26

A really good article about how Apple ruined the even principles of legibility and usability in their OS.

Accessibility goes beyond websites: it applies to PDFs, videos, audio (like podcast), and apps too! Define critical journeys for your users, and make sure all the digital moments are accessible. #accessibility #a11y

Ensure your site functions without JavaScript if you can. Graceful degradation matters even nowadays. At least main features and support features like contact forms and access to documentation should work. #accessibility #a11y

Avoid sensory overload in designs. Simple, clean interfaces are the most inclusive. Nowadays, designers and developers can rely on user preferences (high contrast, motion, transparency, or dark mode) using CSS media queries. Did you know? #accessibility #a11y

Test your site in grayscale to ensure it works without color distinctions. It's a great way to check if a piece of information relies only on colour. (eg. status, availability, etc.) #accessibility #a11y
