Saudi UAE #STC tensions are not simply the result of ideological differences but of a shared military failure vs the Houthis. Once they could no longer win, they reverted to competing political endgames. After Tigray lost the war against #Eritrea & #Ethiopia, Tigray also split.

After #Israel pushed #Iran out of Syria, Türkiye pushed for a centralised #Ankara friendly gov while 🇮🇱 wants a weak state. SDF integration into the SA stalled to 🇹🇷’s dismay. SDF maintains relations w Israel & the US and has strategic assets (hydrocarbon resources & IS prisons).
