In the past, handicapped parakeet Lego has resisted my efforts to photograph her more impressive acrobatics. Fortunately she has been more trusting lately, and last night she let me take a picture of her hanging from the coconut by her one good foot.

Lego, a blue and white parakeet with a bad leg, uses her good leg to hang from the bottom edge of a hollowed out coconut, which is hanging in a large black bird cage. A wooden bird ladder is visible in the background.

That's right! If Miller had anything in common with toads (other than looking like he regularly eats insects), he'd be a far better human being.

Robert F. Inger lived an astonishing 98 years (he passed in April of 2019, handily avoiding COVID-19) and was arguably a giant of the herpetology world, so it's somehow fitting that a tiny dwarf toadlet has been named after him. He probably loved that.

Of course, an Early Dinner is really nothing but a Second Dinner from the previous evening that was served later than expected. It's all a matter of perspective in the end.

Unfortunately the Railroad Valley Toad has no special abilities pertaining to railroads (or valleys, for that matter) but they do look extremely cute when you put them in a tiny pair of overalls and a blue and white-striped engineer's cap.

Hats from the Round Frog range -- if I'm identifying this Stylish Chapeau correctly -- come in a variety of sizes and weights. Jens should probably return to his local Round Frog retailer and exchange this one for the "pre-dinner" weight.

As Jens, Round Frog and Long Frog will attest, the opening of a cricket container is as distinctive a sound as the opening of a particularly fine bottle of wine, and inspires just as much enthusiasm.

If the Oak Toad's diminutive size seems to be at odds with its association with Oak Trees, you'll be fascinated to learn of its now-extinct relative, the Mighty Oak Toad, which regularly grew to a length of five feet and regularly ate foxes, wolves and bear cubs. It was last seen in 1784.

We all know how tiring it can be to eat a big Dinner -- especially a Double Serving. For Trevor and Beverley,who (for the time being, at least) are small, it takes even more Effort and they are, understandably, Exhausted!
