It would seem that the Orwell Prize is now worthless. A disgrace rather than an honour.
I’m a past winner of the Orwell Prize & won partly because I exposed Vote Leave’s unlawful activities.

Michael Gove was its co-convener & refused to answer a single q. He’s now a judge of the prize & our world is truly one that Orwell would recognise

Well worth watching this BBC report on Nathan Gill. He was clearly a close and trusted lieutenant of Farage. The link to Putin was very direct. He was about to flee to Russia when he was stopped at Manchester Airport

The switching off - for the foreseeable future - of Durham’s Lumiere was discussed on BBCRadio4’s #FrontRow tonight. The withdrawal of the City Council’s support was noted, but not that the Council is Reform led. Dark times.

Last night to Theatre Royal (and its amazingly uncomfortable seats) to see Opera North's wonderful production of Handel's Susanna. With Anna Dennis as Susanna and James Hall as Joacim, and of course the superlative chorus and orchestra, conducted by Johanna Soller.
