I personally see a Norway/ Switzerland model easier / quicker to deliver the economic benefits and harder for a future RW Government to argue as a wrong decision.

Where did I or JWS say any of that we are merely pointing out between our new status as a new applicant, having lost all our previous privileged membership terms and the understandable mistrust of the EU especially as we could have a future Reform Govt it’s a marathon

Quite right too - Asda a bit down market for you

I actually think having a relationship with the EU like Norway is the easiest route to achieve and sell to the public.

I agree I find the accounts who say just re-join now as frustrating as the Brexiteers

FOX: You said last week that you would swear in Grijalva whenever she wants. She has written a letter to your office. You have not sworn her in. Doesn't your resistance add fuel to the fire that this is about Epstein?

MIKE JOHNSON: No. This is another partisan manufactured thing

Where did I mention trickle down economics I said a higher percentage of workforce in a job beats a lower percentage of workforce and higher tax revenues funds more public services.

Growing economy creating jobs & protecting existing jobs is better than a contracting economy in recession. Need to get inflation down to make getting said food on the table easier. Also a growing economy means better tax revenues to fund public services vs declining tax revenues in a recession.

I am fully aware having three grown up children and the whole renting costs more than mortgage if only you could get the deposit together. One son in the end found a shared ownership to get started and the other two did the move to cheaper less popular / attractive area option but yes I sympathise

Yes in our day it leads to the inevitable move out to get a house vs flat swapping rent/ mortgage for commuting cost. I guess at least these days some people can get jobs with 3 days in the office vs 5 return commutes.

CGT is a fairer measure as those who made the move south have also paid a lot more over our lifetime. When we moved south our first place was a I bed flat over a pub for what we could have bought a house back home. Also my kids will pay more IHT when I pop my clogs vs say my cousin’s kids

Having grown up in Lancs and followed work to London in 1980 I well aware of the phenomena but unless at the end of the 30 years the Wanstead teacher could only realise the capital if they moved to a cheaper area otherwise it’s just the family home.

Following the closure of the Fiddlers Ferry power station which previously pumped water into the canal, the water level at Spike Island has begun to drop. The locks to the River Mersey are currently unable to be opened for fear of losing more water.

Widnes and the Sankey canal - did you walk the canal from St Helens ?

A windfall you would only get by moving to a lower priced housing area otherwise it’s just your home that has taken a lot more earnings to pay for over your working life.

Excellent it’s good not to let your brain idle in retirement it’s important to have something to keep the brain concentrating is my experience.

If you were happy & provided for you & yours for c40 years that is all that matters. I also have a tendency to put myself down until my wife (known since we were 16)reminds me we are a couple of working class kids living a very comfortable middle class retirement having put our3 kids through Uni.
