One of the side projects at the bamboo unboxed workshop in Sumatra was a bamboo hammock. It was finished by the craftsman at the Orangutan Haven and became a success.

As part of the Bamboo Biophilia project, we are grouting some of the joints with cement mortar. This increases the sheer resistance in the joints and the strength of the connection for bamboo construction.

In January, I visited Jorg Stamm in Colombia. His house is still under construction, but it's incredible to see how bamboo is combined with other natural materials like rammed earth and brick to create a unique identity.
