I am proud to share our 2024 annual report. It is an honor to continue serving the residents of District One in 2025, and I look forward to continuing building on our progress to further enrich the vibrancy of the District in 2025.

We’re suffering from failed priorities. While billionaires get tax breaks, children, seniors, & people with disabilities are left wondering how they’ll eat. Proud to stand w/ Sen Markey, Rep Pressley, Project Bread, and local leaders to demand Congress reopen the government & feed people.

This crisis is a choice & a GOP-made problem. Republicans are choosing to hold families hostage by cutting SNAP, a lifeline that helps millions meet their basic needs. Cutting it off in the middle of rising grocery costs & record food insecurity is immoral and cruel.

We’re not resource poor… 1/
I wrote a letter to District One highlighting the progress we’ve made over the past three years securing major investments in infrastructure, housing affordability, climate resiliency, and more for District 1 & why I’m committed to building on our progress and ensuring that City Hall works for you.
A city-owned grocery store or food hub could help fill this gap providing fresh, affordable food for low-income residents, supporting local growers, and easing the burden on overstretched community organizations.

Publicly owned grocery stores could be Boston’s answer to food insecurity
City-owned grocery stores prioritize benefits to local communities over corporate profit, enabling lower prices.

Access to healthy, nutritious food is a basic human right, yet across our community, long lines of people waiting for food. Families, seniors, and immigrants struggle to find affordable, healthy groceries close to home.
This ordinance ensures that affordable housing is no longer an afterthought — it’s the starting point. It marks an important step toward ensuring every Bostonian has the opportunity to own a home. Thank you to Council President Louijeune for her leadership on this ordinance.
As Chair of the Committee on Government Operations, I was proud to join my colleagues and the Mayor’s Office of Housing for the signing of an ordinance that prioritizes surplus municipal property for affordable housing.
I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund. With District 1’s waterfront neighborhoods on the frontlines, I know how urgent it is to advance resilient, climate-ready development.
The ELM Action Fund endorses @gigi4district1.bsky.social for re-election! As Chair of the Boston City Council’s Cmte on #EnvironmentalJustice #Resiliency & Parks, she's committed to climate equity. Her priorities include #TreeCanopy restoration & resilient infrastructure.

Earlier this month, we had a wonderful time celebrating Italian American Heritage Month and raising the Italian flag at City Hall! 🇮🇹✨ Grateful to everyone who joined us for this special occasion. Thank you to the Post Gazette for capturing the celebration!
We celebrated over 2 decades of service & dedication from the Eastie YMCA! 🎉 The Y is where Eastie families, from preschoolers to grandparents, come together to learn, grow, & thrive. The YMCA truly embodies what makes this neighborhood so special — welcoming & inclusive for everyone.
I’m grateful to Lawyers for Civil Rights, neighborhood advocates, civic leaders, and cultural organizations who have been laying the groundwork for this effort. I’m proud to bring forward this resolution to honor and uplift East Boston’s creative spirit.
I filed a City Council resolution supporting the designation of an East Boston Cultural District 🎨✨ East Boston is a vibrant, diverse community whose cultural, artistic, and creative institutions are at the heart of Boston’s identity and economy.
The hearing will examine the City of Boston’s capacity to provide effective oversight and enforcement of short-term rentals while also exploring potential legislative or administrative reforms to strengthen accountability and protect neighborhood stability.
On Thursday, October 30 at 2PM, I'm sponsoring a hearing to review Boston’s oversight and enforcement of short-term rentals and to explore reforms that strengthen accountability.

Public testimony is welcome, both in person and virtually. To testify, please email  [email protected]
His service and sacrifice remain a lasting inspiration. May he rest in peace, and may we carry forward his legacy with gratitude. Thinking of his loved ones during this difficult time.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Rocco Telese, one of East Boston’s last World War II veterans. Rocco served honorably in the U.S. Army with the 85th Infantry Division in Italy, earning a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his bravery on the Gothic Line.
A special thank you to the Eliot School students for performing the American and Italian National Anthem. Thanks to Café Ducali for the espresso.
What a beautiful afternoon celebrating Italian American Heritage Month and raising the Italian flag at City Hall with colleagues, friends, and neighbors! 🇮🇹✨ I’m proud to host this annual tradition to honor our history, culture, and community.
