Out of 500 or so photos, around 20 are with this guy in any kind of normal pose. In the rest, he's pointing straight up or down. Just nuthatch things.

Bit of a different post today - a selection from the pocket camera (Fuji F30) I took with me to work this week.

This kind of photography is very different to what I usually do, but it makes for a nice change of pace and some fresh perspective.

April is turning out to be Heron Month.

This isn't Dennis (I think he's solo this year), but instead some neighbours of his that I watched fly over me several times. They finally decided to land and did this slow, dance-like descent onto the pond.

Hi everyone, meet Dennis. Dennis is a Grey Heron living at a nearby pond.

Dennis starts its day by flying to this bank, looking for fish, catching nothing, then waddling off.

Dennis is, if nothing else, very persistent.

I am quite fond of pigeons, even if they don't like me nearly as much. Wood pigeons are incredibly skittish where I live, so having the opportunity to admire one from relatively close range is a rare treat.

Ibis! The bird, not the thing in the camera. This one was very patient with me as I found a safe place to slam the brakes and scramble for my camera.

Only got 3 shots in before someone in a camper van sped by and spooked it. Oh well.

I normally try to avoid straight up birds on a (single) stick, but little guys are excepted. This time, the little guy in question is a local nuthatch, looking where it can fly off to so I need to find it again (for the 16th time in a row).
