Since the PCT passes near our house we often do day trips. There is always something interesting to see along the trail.
We often do day walks on the PCT as it is near where we live with several good starting points.
I am always excited to see these beautiful birds.
Yesterday, while hiking along the Pacific Crest Trail near Burney CA, this pileated woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus) provided me with a long photo session. I love these "Woody Woodpecker" birds.
