Over 97% of youth leave CAGIS events feeling like they could be good at STEM, and 94% of graduates are studying or working in a STEM field now. Most say that they would not be where they are today without their CAGIS experiences.

Scientists think they discovered the largest spiderweb ever! 🕷️🕸️

The massive spider web was created by colonies of two different spider species: Tegenaria domestica (common house spider) and Prinerigone vagans.

Scientists have developed ‘baby food’ for coral larvae that could dramatically increase coral reef restoration! 🪸

After feeding coral larvae a special mixture of lipid supplements, researchers found that the larvae were more resilient and had a higher chance of settling and surviving to maturity.

Did you know that algae live below the Arctic sea ice?🧊

Scientists previously thought that living conditions under the sea ice were too harsh for most bacteria & algae to grow. But, a recent discovery showed that algae are surviving & even thriving beneath Arctic sea ice & at the melting boundary!

Do you know what a pendulum is? Did you know that you can use it to create art?

CAGIS Virtual had a swingin’ time exploring the physics of pendulums! We built a scaffold, hung a pendulum, and created awesome engineering art with the help of Sophia and Francesca from McMaster Women in Engineering!
