Not far off I think, maybe had double the engagement there but certainly not 33 times as much. Would still like 33,000 here though!

I don’t think so, as she suggests it as an economical and charming costume choice for fancy dress parties!

I’m sure some were bots but lost some real people too. Lots of lovely people moved here though, I agree!

And thanks to you all, up to the 1,000 followers mark, just need another 32,000 to equal the old days in the other place now!

Fascinating article, thank you! And the research done just before it slips out of human memory. Well she’d have wanted more religious sentiment and less slang and noted it was a bit morbid but possibly approved of it mostly rhyming 😊

That artwork is so effective, just horrible how well it portrays harassment

We are sorry to hear you have failed to pass your examination, and can only advise you to try again. We do not at all agree with your idea that “the only thing that can be done for you is to run away to London and try to get on the stage” nor do we see how that would help you.

I think you will find a kindred spirit in myself when it comes to poetry

Hi Daisy, I’ve just read Josephine Tey’s ‘Miss Pym Disposes’ which I’m assuming is well known to you but had to mention just in case you’d missed this gem!

No, Letitia, this is not a bustle, it’s my actual backside after I failed to trust to diet and exercise. Let that be a warning to you.

We advise you not to try patent remedies, but trust to diet and exercise.

Thank you so much for such a detailed and informative reply, fascinating. The dye on the staff supports my theory I think, they do seem to be commemorating his profession. The “couldn’t find a scallop shell” doesn’t ring true to me, scallops equally if not more likely to be on the menu then.

Brilliant illustrative storytelling. Is the cockleshell interpretation as a pilgrim token widely accepted, given scallops were the accepted token, and cockleshells not found in other graves despite widespread pilgrimages? Ground seashells are used as a dye mordant; perhaps a symbol of his trade?

You should not pray for a husband. How do you know it would be for your happiness or your advantage, and not a hindrance?
