SAM SHORE SUSPENDED

Marshal Ketov accuses
W.A.S.P. Controller.

THE W.A.S.P. organisation was rocked today at the shock news from Washington that Commander Sam Shore, Marine-ville's Controller, had been suspended from duty.

The suspension follows a
charge of negligence made by Marshal Ketov who was a passenger aboard the B.1 bathescaphe which was attacked by a Titan terror fish a few weeks ago.

Captain Troy Tempest, of Stingray, has assumed command of Marineville until a full investigation has been made into the Marshal's allegations.

TV 21 PICTURE SCOOP

TV 21 today prints the first authentic pictures ever published of the interior of a Titan Terror Fish.
The pictures were taken by Lieutenant Spar, second officer of the B1 bathescaphe, while he was being transported by terror fish to Titan's prison of Aquatraz.

The Lieutenant used the standard F.015 lens videomatic miniature
camera, issued to Wasp
officers and carried in their belt buckles.

Parker Attacked!!

LADY Penelope Creighton-Ward's chauffeur, Parker, was attacked in his hotel room at Brodick, Arran, today.

Lady Penelope told our reporter that the only thing taken by the mysterious attacker was the second clue to the whereabouts of the Clingsdale Ruby left by her late Uncle Ned.

As they have already deciphered
the clue, Lady Penelope and Parker have speeded away to the place named.

Harold then became a member of Frank Hampson's studio, as did artist Greta Tomlinson, contributing weekly to the Dan Dare strip.

For the “Marooned on Mercury” storyline (1952-53) were principle artists whilst Hampson took extended leave.

I’ve covered their shameful dismissal in 1953, elsewhere..

Harold Johns studied at Victoria College of Art & Science and Southport School of Arts and Crafts, alongside Frank Hampson.

He assisted Frank Hampson and Marcus Morris in producing the dummy issue of the “Eagle” 🦅 that sold the concept to Hulton Press.

RED PLANET, RED STAR, RED SHIFT.

On the 29th July this year, the Americans released the most exciting photographs taken by their space probe, MARINER 4, as it passed Mars at a distance of 7,800 miles. Mars proved to have craters, something never suspected previously. This illustration shows for the first time how the surface of Mars must really look.

In the constellation Auriga, the Charioteer, is a remarkable double star called Zeta Aurigae. It consists of an enormous red supergiant, about 245 times the size of our Sun, and a very hot blue star, 3½ times as large as the Sun but 100 times as bright. When passing across its red companion, the blue star can be seen for some time. This is happening in the picture, seen from an imaginary planet 400 million miles away.

Astronomers have been baffled by the recent discovery
"quasars" —objects which appear as dim specks to optical telescopes but brilliant beacons to radio telescopes. The speed at which these distant objects are moving is measured by a spectroscope. The light from these “quasars" passes through this instrument and appears on a slide in bands of colour. The astronomers can calculate from the length of the red band the speed at which the object is travelling. This is called the red shift.
