CPR - CPR. David Crosby's late career renaissance really kicked off with this, the first of several albums he recorded with guitarist Jeff Pevar and keyboardist/vocalist James Raymond (Crosby's son). His voice is as good as ever, and the band is superb. He didn't put a foot wrong after this.
Elder - The Gold and Silver Sessions. On this mini album, the band cuts back on the heaviosity and concentrates on the psychedelic jamming. Good stuff.
Lloyd McNeill Quartet - Washington Suite. Lovely album, this. Spiritual jazz with McNeill's flute and Eugene Rush's electric piano to the fore. Drummer Eric Gravatt would go on to play with Weather Report. #Jazzsky
Last night, I dreamt that Adrian Chiles opened up a record shop on Bromley High Street. There wasn't much stock, and I didn't recognise any of the records. He offered me a cup of tea, but I couldn't stop as I was meeting my wife in Lidl.
Mal Waldron - Mal/2. Excellent hard bop album from the great pianist. John Coltrane and Jackie McLean are amongst the players. Fabulous version of The Way You Look Tonight. #Jazzsky
