US based 501c3 that exists to help create sanctuaries for captive elephants. Our pilot project is Elephant Sanctuary Brazil. 2,800 acres of beautiful land to provide elephants with the space and freedom needed to recover from a lifetime of captivity.
Minnie has passed away at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. She was euthanized on Sunday after showing worsening symptoms consistent with kidney failure, including weakness and lack of appetite. www.wsmv.com/2025/11/25/f...

Every elephant’s tail is just a little different from their neighbor’s. Guille is well known for having the hairiest tail and Maia has the shortest. This Sunday Smile highlights Rana’s built-in fly swatter–longer than Maia’s and growing more hair all the time!

Mara is standing in front of the female Asian elephant treatment center, otherwise known as "the barn". Unlike most captive elephant facilities around the world, the elephants are free to come and go from this barn as they please.

Kenya has been very busy in the mud wallow lately. It’s become one of her favorite spots and she’s often there when caregivers check on her. The mud almost certainly feels good on her sore feet and continues to soften her pads, which still need lots of work.

We wrote recently about how caregivers spend their days and, as I’m sure you read, they don’t have as much elephant time as many people might assume. Unless the elephants are getting treatments or meals, we try to give them the time and space they need to simply be elephants.
