NWSL’s lack of gender eligibility policy leaves players vulnerable – just not in the way you think
An op-ed from Angel City midfielder Elizabeth Eddy called for "a clear standard" to address a problem that doesn't currently exist.

Started in this league as a player. Now I stand in it as a leader. With that comes the responsibility to champion what makes this league and game special.

P, you’re exactly what makes our space special. Wherever your path takes you, whatever kit you wear, know this: we’ve got your back. 💪

Bold statement considering that a few years later we had one who lost an election, publicly contemplated a coup for over a month, ended up not going through with it not because he lost the election but rather because he was told it wouldn't work, and THEN his own party tried to hang him for stopping

And the most appropriate thing ever said about Thomas Felts
November 3, 2025 at 11:09 PM
I mean yeah, he probably deserves this. But in terms of loyalty to the USA he was above average in the House majority when he got kicked out. Most of the House Rs at the time (and still a whole lot now) had asked the Supreme Court to steal a presidential election

Question: while it undoubtedly does apply here, what are your editorial standards for that word? We have President who also was convicted of felonies AND publicly tried to overturn an election he lost, and yet I've never seen you use that word to describe him?

@nytimes.com When the alert for this article popped up on my phone, Bob Menendez was identified as "disgraced" former Senator

Nadine Menendez Is Found Guilty of Taking Bribes and Obstructing Justice (Gift Article)
Ms. Menendez had been charged with her husband, Robert Menendez, a former New Jersey senator convicted in July of trading his political influence for gold, cash and a Mercedes-Benz.

@margaret.bsky.social @joliehollandmusic.bsky.social What an amazing story that I wish I knew sooner

And it made my heart happy to hear y'all bring up Will Oldham and mention Matewan as if of course everyone knows what it is

Will that go next to the list of traitors who signed onto the Texas v Pennsylvania amicus brief who got a total free pass for it from the media?
March 29, 2025 at 12:12 PM
I mean

It's rich that it came from these huge traitors

But you're part of why we're in this mess

With your "Kevin McCarthy should still be Speaker even though he attempted a coup" vote

Lesser traitors like you are still traitors

He either never got to decide who he played for, or maybe once as a minor. "Loyalty" means "letting the team that you were sent to, who underpaid you this year by tens of millions of dollars, underpay you by tens, or maybe hundreds, of millions of dollars more for the rest of your career"?
December 11, 2024 at 2:43 PM
Are those thoughts that he didn't choose to go to the Yankees and be underpaid, and that he doesn't owe them, or you, giving evil billionaires a discount larger than the entire amount of money you and I will probably make in our entire lives?

Did they open their books? Do they not have a track record of continually lying about their finances? Maybe they can't afford it, but it seems insane to take their word for it

Here is the full list of teams who could verifiably not pay that amount:

Cheney betrayed the country in '21. We would be a stronger party if we treated traitors as radioactive

Or maybe 2nd biggest downside after not being able to buy them at the local shop
November 24, 2024 at 12:15 AM
I haven't done this yet but I've been continually thinking about how the biggest downside of ebooks for me is I can't lend someone else my copy of a book usually, and if I did that through circumventing something I'd probably feel ok about it

Really want to say something about "yeah, the real Americans" but holding my tongue
November 5, 2024 at 8:23 PM
I didn't get a sticker. But I did this. And I gave what money I could. And, um, I think 19 shifts of knocking on doors. And I'll know if I #CompletedTheAssignment on Jan 20

And if you are voting for Trump, please unfriend me. Anyone who would threaten my family -- and make no mistake, that's what you're going -- you are NOT my friend
November 4, 2024 at 2:50 PM
If you're thinking of voting for Trump, stay home. And if you already have, it's not too late in most states. You can go to the polls and spoil your absentee one and cast a patriotic one instead
November 4, 2024 at 2:50 PM
Please, if you can, step up your game. If you're already volunteering, can you take one more shift? If you've already voted for Kamala, can you reach out to friends? If you haven't voted yet, can you please vote for Kamala?
