I am a firm believer in the old chestnut "money buys happiness." Because I was, in fact, happy when my mum bought me a new laptop, when my dad purchased tickets for me to go overseas, when I buy new clothes. However, money is not the requirement to happiness. I have never lived in poverty, or been close to it. But I know people who have, and they are some of the most happy, most intelligent, most resilient people I know.

Often in this life, I have an urge to hurry, to rush, to think multiple things at once; politics, life, gossip, celebrities. Indeed, consuming short form content constantly, every day, does do something to the brain, and it's not just shortening the attention span, I think. It's deeper than that, more insidious. I think social media strips away people's humanity in general.

In terms of physical energy, energy drinks always do the trick. The sugar free Monster Ultras, that's the stuff. Every morning, every day. The drink that vitalises, invigorates, and clarifies. The drink that also brings controversy into daily conversation... I'm not a coffee drinker, but about ninety-five percent of people in my family worship a good latte, flat white or rarely, cappuccino.
