Despite most of the Goemon entries being self-contained adventures and stories, it's cool to see that there's some continuity here and there.
The game featured in the picture is The Legend of The Mystical Ninja (also known as Ganbare Goemon: Yukihime Kyūshūtsu Emaki) released originally in 1991 in Japan for the Super Famicom, and later in 1992 in North America and 1994 in Europe. The game featured in the picture is Ganbare Goemon: Uchū Kaizoku Akogingu, released in 1996 for the Sony PlayStation. It was never released overseas. The picture is a screenshot of a fanmade translation modification.

Ganbare Goemon 2: The Strange General McGuiness (1993)

This game feels so much tighter than its predecessor. No more grinding or drawn-out fights in towns, it's more forgiving in the side scrolling levels, and it has cool mech fights. And it has all the positives of the first too!
