I know there is nothing more you want to read than another tech bro giving their political opinions, so here it is: “Let’s Destroy The European Union!“ lucumr.pocoo.org/2025/12/9/fi...

Damn, I already knew Gary Oldman is the chameleonist of all humans and it wasn't until I saw this image that I realized he played Truman

Wait, did I just miss it? The $140k poverty line / vibecession discussion has been on all my feeds for almost 2 weeks at this point—everywhere except this site. Is this now the slow news site? Is the latest framing somehow non-viral with the community on here?

You can just fill moments of your day with one fascinating discussion after another, jumping from one world class thinker to the next. Amazing.

A poll I'm super interested to see is how many people *today* know why they were chanting to hang Mike Pence
Reminder about Jan 6:

it really happened
It was a horror
140+ police were injured
A range of violent weapons were used by attackers
Chants to hang Mike Pence were heard
There was a gallows and guns
Pipe bombs diverted police as mob approached

Energy transitions can happen faster than we think:

In 2000 almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels.

In 2024 less than 10% of Danish electricity was from fossil fuels.

I just discovered that you can argue with Grok about 2 sexes being a “biological fact”. It's fun to see the contortions it has to do when it has been forced to take a concrete, dogmatic position on the issue

I find navigating politics with extended family easy. They go on a rant with complete certainty in their tribal opinion. And I don't have the heart to tell them why the situation is far more nuanced than they were told

Democrats (and most people who vote for Democrats) seem to value fiscal policy way, way more than monetary policy. It's almost like if they recognize the importance of monetary policy, it is a slippery slope to not spending more fiscally.

In any case, this has driven me crazy for 20 years now.
