I set up my mom with Linux and she was happy with it for years. LibreOffice Calc. Firefox. Set up the printer for her. Everything just worked.

If you have simple needs, Linux just works, I don't know what to tell people ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The problem is mostly power users get attracted to Linux, but it's like 10x the time commitment to be an effective power user on Linux

The other problem is "I want my games/video editing/GIS software/whatever to run" and like, see my point about power users

In the right setting my controversial opinion is that talent can be made legibile within a company. Look at change rate (PRs/day). Have peers anonymously rate sample of others' changes for value add. Continue to rank teams for business outcomes. Monitor team defect rate

Everyone I know who became "betrayed" by Democrats was turned away by shit basically as stupid as how Ben Shapiro was offended over Obama's Trayvon Martin remarks. I don't think celebrating medical affordability wins would have prevented where we were going
