Or another response could be "Really? You haven't heard the (insert major story)? How is that possible? The American people should be alarmed that you know nothing about this. So are you lying or stupid? Both are not good answers.".
This is part of the GOPs problem: they think everyone that needs help is lazy. Are there some that abuse the system? Sure. But they tend to paint with broad stokes and don't take the time to do actual research and try to understand which, ironically, is lazy.
Do you think republicans feel silly having to repeat the fuhrer's term "big beautiful bill" to make him happy? I think I'd feel like a dopey idiot saying that out loud.
Unfortunately something will get us all in the end. Not saying it's over, but a tough diagnosis. I'm proud to say he was my president and fortunate to have lived along side such a good man.
