"It's December and all of Rome is in fever-pitch! Unrestricted festive fun at the state's expense is given free license. . . Preparations on an enormous scale. . . The Saturnalia holiday is meant to be different. . . but now celebrations begin so early there is hardly any difference at all"

What people, including me until just now, have forgotten is how Trump's support for Putin created the necessary conditions for a Russian invasion of Ukraine by undermining ahead of time the American support for the innocent victim that would normally have been taken for granted in such a situation.

I got a comment from CBP on this. They claim this woman was driving her "illegal alien boyfriend's" car and refused to show ID when stopped.

Florida requires motorists to show ID during a lawful traffic stop, but idk exactly how that applies to CBP stops. (Any lawyers want to chime in?)

I wonder which corporation will be first to introduce the reverse CAPTCHA, where you have to prove that you are *not* a human before you are allowed to post anything. But maybe they already exist and we just weren't informed. I do get the impression that Facebook prefers AI writers. . .

Guy shot another guy who was carrying an AR-15 at a rally. He apparently thought the guy was about to carry out a mass shooting. But the guy had a legal right to carry the AR-15, so now the man who shot him finds himself charged with manslaughter. Just madness:

This is very cool -- three Amazon buildings in downtown Seattle are heated this way -- but you can't do it with the bloated, gigantic 1GW data centers they're trying to build these days. Gotta break them into smaller pieces.
Data centres are energy hungry but what if we could use their waste heat to heat our homes?

That's exactly what happens in places like Finland: Cities are tapping the vast amounts of waste heat generated by data centres, and feeding it into district-heating networks.
