Flea markets mostly, bits of art, music. Oh, and books, I like books.
Never fails to give me a lift.

Sits in one of those little, odd places where it sounds like lots of little different things, but ends up entirely its own very distinct thing.

A short thread about The Wedding Present.

Specifically about their first 7” single, “Go Out and Get ‘Em Boy!”, released on 24 May, 1985 on the band’s own Reception Records label.

More specifically, about the photograph on the cover of the record sleeve.

First choice from the office book club is a bit WOT?.

The physical book is actually 4 books: total cost ~€80 😩

I don't have an e-reader and I can't locate an Eng. lang. audiobook that'll play in Belgium.

Not going to book club.

Perfect time to bring back the 1983 BBC TV series, Spyship.

Frustratingly, it does not appear to be available anywhere online.

Fun night out in Glasgow tonight. Although, I suspect it'll have to go some to match last night.
Celebrate with a night of music by Spacemen 3 and friends at Mono, Glasgow, TONIGHT.

One of several talismen, convened over the years, now crumbling together inside my wallet.

Happy Spacemen day to all who mark it.

Ahhh... this was the first art book I ever bought.

I found this copy in a secondhand bookshop in Brussels today. Couldn't resist.

Stuck in small-town England in the 80s, the @thamesandhudson.bsky.social 'World of Art' series was a real education.

Again, not to go on about ai but I have a few thoughts.

1. I've genuinely never seen an actual creative get excited about using it. Someone who has actually made something before. Its people from marketing and finance backgrounds getting excited about a false sensation of making something.

Great discussion about how rave 'killed' dancing in couples, worth a listen on many levels.

Also, completely agree with just never liking Patti Smith's Horses. Same goes for Love's Forever Changes, and pretty much everything by The Pixies, Nirvana, or Led Zep.

Planet of the Apes set, California, 1967 by Dennis Stock. When eating in the canteen the extras subconsciously segregated themselves, with the orangutans, chimpanzees and gorillas all sitting in groups and not mixing. Like a mirror of society.

Someone on here (forget who, sorry) recommended this Beryl Bainbridge documentary a while back.

I finally got around to watching it last night and it was an absolute delight.

Swedish Artist & Mystic whose paintings are among the first abstract works in Western Art. They predate compositions by Kandinsky, Malevich & Mondrian. She belonged to 'The 5', a circle inspired by Theosophy, sharing a belief in trying to contact 'High Masters' - often by séances.
