If my body got your attention, just know: there are better reasons to be physically active than looks. Maybe my FREE guide will help you get started.

It's basic, general, and doesn't beat you up for not knowing what you don't know. Time was when I didn't either
I’m going to phrase this as comedy, but it’s seriously how I think: it’s all about ME, and ME does not have time to go to therapy for twenty years working through the traumatic memories of someone’s brains all over me because I hit them with my car/bike/whatever because I was in a mood that day.
Exactly. It’s so fucking dumb. “I’ll win the lawsuit from my wheelchair after I’m quadriplegic.” No thanks. Accidents happen to people who don’t even take dumb risks. The fuck sense does it make to run stupid risks?
easily kill a toddler. I can’t always make it about how the cars could kill me. Other people than me exist (new concept to some, clearly).

Obeying sensible traffic laws can increase safety by increasing predictability. I hate guessing if the people around me are paying attention!
I self-identify as rabidly pro-enforcement. Ticket based on both the offense AND the cost of harm. I run a red light as a cyclist? Throw the book at me. As a motorist? A heavier book!

To me it’s about the intent of the law, and usually the intent is safety. My 190-pound ass on a bike could …
But in the Boston area, where we are notorious for bad drivers, my head canon is that every bad/entitled cyclist is also a terrible driver and horrible pedestrian, and that their excuses change depending on what they’re trying to defend that day.
One of my motorist-only friends tried to lecture me about why cyclists don’t pay to keep roads up because of excise taxes. I asked him to explain what a car with a bike rack on it implies. That’s the first time I noticed the “separate species” people. He’s a motorcyclist now. Wonder if he’s changed
Don’t get me started on earbuds. I get so much information from my ears while cycling, to wear earbuds would count as a death wish.
New Pastene pasta/pizza sauces just dropped:

Hey, I just met you
And you’re a big whale,
I’ve got a harpoon
So call me Ishmael.
Just the overwhelming whiteness of the audiences I’ve been part of since going to prog metal shows the last couple of years has given me pause.

I recall how much venom was directed at Living Colour back in the day, too, whether we consider them metal or hard-rock-funk or whatever.
That’s what I thought, and let me just say: I added some more tracks to my playlist last night, that opening bass part from ”I Zombie“ came on, I hadn’t heard it before, and I thought “Damn, if this is Jayaprakash I’ma have to rave to him about how good it is.”
I don’t think I’ve asked what you play in the band. Currently listening to “I, Zombie.” ❤️
Avengers Tower casting a big shadow on Manhattan, innit?
You have a lot of lean muscle mass. Muscle is greedy. It needs feeding. (Nods sagely.)
Have also worshipped at the Altar of Saint Mariah, 1st November 2025, 0625h Eastern US.

Time to plan for Thanksgiving.

I shall re-accomplish these feats on Black Friday and December 1st, lest anyone doubt my commitment to being kinda over it.
Whamhalla achieved, 1st November 2025, 0620h Eastern US time.
It’s so refreshing to talk about entitled cyclists with OTHER CYCLISTS. Usually people act like everyone comes from separate species: if you own a bike you have no clue what its like to be cut off in your car by a dumb cyclist, if you own a car you’ve never been on a bike.

Baby, we’re multi-modal!
Hitting kids is not going to go with my hairdo. So I slow the fuck down when they're around. Boo fucking hoo.

Motorized skateboards? Scooters almost the size of motorcycles? High school students leaving class for the day? They all deserve safety too.

I'm tired of motherfuckers not getting it.
I had slowed down and gotten to the left of the path to go around her, but she swerved into me. *As the person approaching from behind, I had a better understanding of the situation.* She apologized profusely, and I agree she did a major dumbass move, but still. ME. At fault. No excuses.
I was hit by a cyclist going the wrong way on a busy, one-way downtown street, because I was watching the oncoming traffic and didn't hear their 'warning' in time. Guess what: that accident was on THEM.

And when I hit a jogger who turned in front of me at the last moment? That was on ME.
I literally try to start my weekend rides early so that I can avoid some of the peak usage hours on the shared trails.

Who else is inconvenient? Dogs. Grandmas. Cyclists who aren't as speedy as me, or less skilled. Rollerbladers

Cry me a fucking river.

And yeah, years before I started riding ....
Kids on a crowded community path? Inconvenient, potentially, especially if they're very young and don't know to not wander all over the lane. But so what. They're KIDS. They learn by doing, same as anyone. If there's too many of them on the path, time to get on the road instead.
As much as I'd like better behavior by motorists, and more separated lanes for each mode (motorists, cycle, walking) the fact is, we live in a society with other people, and frankly, I both walk and drive, not just cycle. Sorry, I had to take a disabled loved one to appointments in a CAR. Often.
I've been reading yours and Goose's thoughts but steering clear of the other stuff because I. Am. Not. Patient. with bicycle supremacists. I love my bike. I have three different bicycle-themed tattoos. I've logged over 14,000 miles on Strava since joining, and that was 4 years into my riding. BUT.
